Chronic C to A

Mathematics had always been a weak point for me, and my lacking of interest in it left me far behind my peers.

Thanks to the patient guidance of Miss Tan Soo Fang, I slowly came to make sense of all the formulae.

Trick questions were no longer tricky, and my careless mistakes were greatly reduced. I eventually broke free from being a chronic ‘C’ student to get my ‘A’s for both Elementary and Additional maths during my ‘O’ Levels, which were integral in getting me into the JC of my choice.

Problem Solving Strategies & Confidence Building

Miss Tan is an excellent Mathematics teacher. With an extensive knowledge of math and experiences, Miss Tan demonstrates different ways in problem solving, and uses alternate strategies to help my son grasp difficult concepts. With Miss Tan’s guidance, my son is finally gaining confidence in tackling challenging problems.

Beyond Memorization & Rote Learning

A patient and experienced tutor, Miss Tan had tutored me through my Mathematics homework while I was preparing for my ‘O’ Level preliminary examinations.

While my teachers at school had emphasized memorization and rote learning, Miss Tan emphasized understanding and application.  Rather than spoon-feeding, she guided me through the questions by prompting me to recall the relevant next steps in working out the solutions by myself.

This approach was really effective in building my confidence in Mathematics, which helped me overcome my fear of the subject and led to an improvement in my grades.

F to A2 in 7 months

Since primary school, it has been a headache for me to get my daughter Jolin to do well in maths.  I have tried different tuition centres to 1-1 home tutors and yet she still failed badly.

My daughter’s schoolmate who is doing very well under Mr Lee’s guidance recommended him to my daughter.

I had some reservations at first partly because of the long commute to the tuition centre, but at my daughter’s insistence, I decided to give it a try.

During the past 7 months, it was just so amazing how she progressed from “F” to an “A2” in her End of Year Examinations. We are extremely thankful that Jolin has Mr Lee’s help in her Mathematics journey salvaging her from being a “F” scoring student to an “A” student.

Jolin always said Mr Lee was able to explain things in a simple manner for her to understand.  She enjoys the weekly class and is always looking forward to the next lesson.

F in P5 | A for PSLE

We are extremely thankful that Keith has Mr Lee’s help in his Mathematics journey salvaging him from being a “F” scoring student to eventually scoring an “A” in his PSLE.

As he continues his Mathematics tuition under Mr Lee’s guidance, his interest in Mathematics has increased over time.  Today, he not only does well in A Maths, he is even game to opt for the Engineering field in post Secondary studies.

Journey to A*

My son, David Leong, joined the group tuition in October 2015 when he was in Primary 5.  Through the dedication and effective coaching techniques of the teacher, my son did very well in his PSLE and attained an A* for Math.

The teacher encourages his students to give their best. He was instrumental in motivating my son to do more practice papers and develop a keen interest in Math. My husband and I are really grateful to him for going the extra mile and spending time answering my sonʼs many questions. The teacher also started an e-learning platform for his students to post challenging questions and to learn from one another!  We will certainly recommend parents to register their children at Compass Alpha Learning Centre.

50s to high 80s

Mr Lee is reputed to be very good in guiding high achievers.  My son Lester had benefitted from his guidance.

For my daughter Justine, it was a struggle since Primary One to get her to do well in Maths.  Mr Lee’s approach worked wonders for Justine.  From a mere pass in Primary 4 Mathematics to achieving high eighties, it is just amazing how much she progressed!

I suppose this is because Mr Lee was able to make things easy for Justine to understand.  She especially enjoys the “mind-teasing” sessions and looks forward to the weekly class.  I believed Justine is in good hands and truly appreciate the extra time and effort you have given her.

Holistic Methodology Customised Approach

The coach is able to customize different methods/approaches to suit students of different abilities.

He deployed holistic methodology to engage and develop studentʼs interest in maths in which my girls benefitted significantly. Interestingly, maths became their favorite subjects and lesson.
